GERMANY GRAF ZEPPLIN - EXPLODES IN NEW JERSEY!
This just in from Al Hodges:
The Graf Zepplin did not explode in New Jersey. If it had, the metal skeleton would have been strewn over many miles of the landscape. Most of the skeleton was still intact the next day. Check Wikipedia for pictures. It burned. The skin burned. The helium burned above the ship. And most passengers and crew escaped. If it had exploded, this would not have been the final result. Over 100 people would have died. Today, with possible use of hydrogen for electric car fuel cells, this media legend should be corrected.
